A Historical Perspective
The Family Business Histories research initiative is the first and most ground-breaking project mapping family business legacies in the MENASA region their impact on the regional economy, society and culture.
Family Business Histories publications consist of a series of case studies which explore the historical evolution of selected leading family businesses in the MENASA region. The historical narratives shed a light on the businesses’ multi-generational quest for longevity in spite of internal and contextual challenges.
The Family Business Histories project was delighted to welcome Dr. Andrea Schneider-Braunberger for our a unique session. Dr. Schneider-Braunberger is CEO of the Gesellschaft für Unternehmensgeschichte (GUG) (Business History Society), established in 1976 and based in Frankfurt-am-Main in Germany.
Dr. Schneider-Braunberger has written extensively about the history of German family businesses and her team has supported many family firms in documenting their history. Her career has contributed to building bridges between the academic world, business, and government and has helped to deepen the appreciation of how insight can be generated from hindsight.
Dr. Schneider-Braunberger shared her research on German family firms responding to crisis and what today’s leaders can learn from yesterday’s entrepreneurs.
